Back 2 Health Kobe Bryant

Back 2 Health Kobe Bryant

The Beginning

Marking my third mural project, I had the pleasure of completing this Kobe mural for Trevor and Shara at Back 2 Health. Trevor and Shara approached me with a clear vision of what they were after for the wall, a colourful Kobe Bryant side profile. For my clients, Kobe has been a huge inspiration for them, and still continues to inspire them to this day. With the outcome clear, I recreated their vision from a small pixlated Pintrest image into a high-resolution vector map, with the layers of application to come.

Working through the vector maps and printer technical issues hehe.

One of the vector maps created for wall application.

The Application

Using the good old grid ratio method, I got to work! First, I laid down the guidelines, which included lots of measuring and help from my friends to add the plumber lines onto the wall. The project space was around 3x3m I borrowed some ladders and planks from a plasterer friend, so I could reach the whole application area.

The Finished Product

For me, the Kobe mural is more than just the biggest mural I have ever painted, or the most colourful. In my mind the Kobe mural lives in a place dedicated to honest and genuine human connection. It showed me how people and communities can come together to support and inspire each other. It was a privilege to be able to do this project and for such kind and appreciative clients like Trevor and Shara at Back 2 Health.
